UMass Dartmouth Galleries The CVPA Campus Gallery is located on the main campus of UMass Dartmouth at 285 Old Westport Road, North Dartmouth. MA. Patrons are advised to use parking lot 7.

College of Visual and Performing Arts has a gallery on main UMass Dartmouth campus and collaborates with local partners in New Bedford, Fall River and elsewhere. College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at UMASS Dartmouth has two galleries: CVPA Campus Gallery in Dartmouth and University Art Gallery in satellite campus Star Store in downtown New Bedford. The gallery can be found on the first f

loor of the Visual and Performing Arts building (CVPA). Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 10-4, Friday 10-3. These hours are through the academic year when classes are in session. The gallery is closed in the summer. All events in both galleries (including exhibitions, receptions, and lectures) are free of charge and open to the public. Contact: Viera Levitt, Gallery Director

Meet our instructors, Summer Community Projects 2026

Maryam Mahmoudiseraji is a Persian illustrator. Currently studying an MFA in Illustration at UMass Dartmouth, Maryam also teaches 2D foundation course (Form and Surface).
Her work focuses on children’s book, editorial illustration and poster design, combining traditional and digital techniques, including color pencil, stencil printmaking, and digital media.
Her illustrations have been recognized internationally, with selections in Creative Quarterly and Graphis (USA), as well as the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (Italy). Her upcoming exhibition, Libres Comme L’Art, will be presented in Paris, continuing her exploration of storytelling, social issues, and visual communication through illustration.

She already run three printmaking workshops this Summer, including Creative Linocut Printmaking, Creative Monoprint Art and Creative Stencil printmaking at the UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, Art & Design Studios.

Meet our instructors, Summer Community Projects 2026

Arghavan Booyeh is an Iranian-born fiber artist whose work blends technical craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural memory. Currently completing an MFA in Fibers at UMass Dartmouth, Arghavan also teaches Weaving and foundation-level 3D Form and Space courses. With a master’s degree in law from China, her artistic practice centered on social justice, women’s rights, and equality.

Arghavan’s sculptural works are rooted in fiber techniques such as weaving and expanded through diverse materials, honoring women as agents of strength and transformation. Recent exhibitions include the Convergence International Fiber Conference in Wichita, Kansas; the New Bedford Art Museum; the Menino Arts Center, MA; and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, where Arghavan completed a three-month artist residency (2025) alongside a series of community focused workshops.

She already run two workshops this Summer, including Block Printing & Embroidery and weaving Workshop at the UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, Art & Design Studios.

Weaving Workshop

On Monday, August 24, participants came together at the UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, Art & Design Studios for a weaving workshop led by Arghavan Booyeh Arghavan Booyeh, an MFA Fibers student.

Through the workshop, participants learned basic weaving techniques and experimented with different looms to create their own woven pieces.

Thank you to everyone who participated and made the workshop vibrant and more creative.

Block Printing & Embroidery: Creative Persian Motifs

On Wednesday, August 19, participants gathered at the UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, Art & Design Studios for a workshop inspired by Persian motifs and patterns, and led by Arghavan Booyeh, our MFA Fibers student Arghavan Booyeh.

Participants experimented with wooden block printing and brought their designs to life by incorporating personal touches through embroidery.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the workshop such a wonderful and creative experience.

Creative Stencil Printmaking

On Monday, August 17, participants came together at the UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts, Art & Design Studios for a Creative Stencil Printmaking workshop led by Maryam Mahmoudiseraji, MFA Illustration student Maryam Mahmoudiseraji

During the workshop, participants explored the fundamentals of stencil printing while experimenting with shapes, patterns, layering, and color. They learned how to trace their designs onto acetate and use stencils to transfer their designs on fabric, making unique handmade prints.
