π MSW Graduate Spotlight π
Throughout April and May, we are excited to highlight and celebrate our incredible 2026 BSW and MSW graduates!
These spotlights are shared in no particular order β we simply want to recognize each graduate for their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments.
β Name: Alison Foley
β Hometown: Davenport, Iowa
β Previous Degrees Earned: Bilingual Education from Western Illinois University
β We asked: Who has been your biggest inspiration during your time in school? Myself! I had to overcome so many barriers in order to graduate. I had to use the very skills I was learning in my personal life, as a sole mother and caretaker of a 7 and 9 year old.
β We asked: What is one thing you're grateful for during your time in school? I am grateful for the self-reflection that it gifted me. I was able to heal parts of my inner child through this program.
β We asked: What moment are you most proud of from your time in school? I am proud of the critical thinking, capacity, resilience and presence I developed.
β We asked: What's your favorite memory from your time at SAU? The connections that I made, they mean everything to me. I became good friends with a dear person who helped me in little ways along the way, and without him, I wouldn't have been able to get through.
β We asked: What's next for you after graduation? I will be doing school-based therapy, spending more time in nature, and pouring more into my children.
β We asked: What's one lesson you'll carry with you from your time in school? I won't forget the level of balancing it took me. It required a deep commitment to my goals.
β We asked: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be? If I knew then what I know now, I'd choose differently. Time is of the essence.
β We asked: What's a challenge you overcame that made you stronger? Managing it all alone; the childcare, the late nights of studying, the time crunch, it really developed my character and ability to navigate complexity with determination.
π Congratulations, Alison!
We are so proud of you and canβt wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish! ππ€
