Orientation Week at the NSU Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy – Puerto Rico Regional Campus was filled with opportunities for our incoming students to learn, connect, and prepare for the beginning of their Pharm.D. journey.

Our Dean's Hour Series is off to a great start! 👏

We were excited to welcome Julian Rodriguez, Pharm.D. ('14) back to NSU as our first Dean's Hour speaker of the year. As an officer in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, Dr. Rodriguez shared his unique career journey and introduced students to the many ways pharmacists can make an impact through public health and national service.

His story offered valuable insight into the profession and encouraged students to think broadly about the opportunities available after graduation.

Thank you, Dr. Rodriguez, for returning to inspire the next generation of pharmacists and for your continued dedication to the NSU Pharmily!

On Wednesdays we focus on well-being! Each week, we feature content dedicated to enhancing our personal and professional well-being.

Learning is more than memorizing facts. It begins with curiosity, grows through reflection, and deepens when we take time to think critically about what we learn.

This week, challenge yourself to ask questions, reflect on new ideas, and seek understanding beyond the surface. The path to knowledge starts with wonder. 💙

💙 Empowering Healthier Communities Through Pharmacy Education 💊✨

On August 3–4, 2026, our fourth-year pharmacy students José Cruz (’27), Elaine Álvarez (’27), and Nazhelly Vélez (’27) had the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community during their APPE Ambulatory Care rotation at the Centro de Servicios Primarios de Salud de Patillas – Clínicas Satélites de Santa Isabel and Salinas.

As part of the celebration of National Health Center Week (Semana Nacional de los Centros de Salud 330), our students presented an educational session titled “Protect Your Health: Prevent and Control Chronic Diseases.”

During the sessions, community members learned about common chronic diseases and explored practical lifestyle habits that can make a meaningful difference in preventing and managing chronic health conditions.

Experiential learning opportunities like these allow our NSU Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy students to apply their pharmacy knowledge beyond the classroom while strengthening their skills in patient education, disease prevention, ambulatory care, and community health.

👏 We are proud of students for empowering patients with the knowledge and tools to take an active role in their health and well-being. Together, we can help build healthier communities—one conversation at a time! 💙💊

🌿 Wellness Reminder: Pause and Choose Your Direction

As August brings a new academic year and new opportunities, it also offers a moment to pause, reflect, and choose your direction with intention.

Before the pace of a new chapter takes over, take time to check in with yourself. Wellness is not only about staying active or managing responsibilities—it is also about creating space to breathe, refocus, and move forward with purpose.

As Paulo Coelho reminds us,
“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”

Let this season be a reminder to move toward what supports your growth, your peace, and your purpose.

Pause. Reflect. Choose your direction. Welcome this new chapter with wellness in mind.
