📢📢💛 SEEKING HEALTHY LABS

Copper associated liver disease is one of the most common liver diseases in dogs and Labrador retrievers are at risk. Copper associated liver disease is caused by too much copper build up in the liver. If this disease is not diagnosed or treated, it can cause a lot of liver damage and ultimately, liver failure.

The goal of this study is to use new technologies to better understand how to diagnose these diseases with blood tests and see how they differ from Labrador retrievers with autoimmune liver disease and healthy Labrador retrievers.

What happens in this study🩺
We will collect additional teaspoons of blood and small less than pea-sized samples of liver tissue to assess for liver disease and measure copper. We will then screen for genes and markers in the blood that could be used to help diagnose and treat Labrador retrievers with liver disease in the future.

We are enrolling healthy Labrador retrievers. If your Labrador is healthy and already undergoing a surgery such as a spay, neuter, or gastropexy, the liver sampling will be in addition to that and a portion or all costs of the surgery will be covered.

Meet Tug! 🐾 This cutie pie just enrolled in our Osteosarcoma clinical trial. Shortly after these photos were taken, Tug underwent amputation of his left front leg as part of his treatment plan. We are looking forward to supporting him in his recovery! ❤️‍🩹

Snoopy recently completed our PDL1 immunotherapy clinical trial. He came in with metastatic cancer, and seeing him respond and do well after treatment is a moment our team won’t forget.

This outcome reflects years of research, collaboration, and care — and we’re deeply grateful to Snoopy and his family for trusting us with his care.

Congratulations to Zero! 🎉❤️
Zero is a 4-year-old Golden Retriever cutie diagnosed with Refractory Epilepsy who enrolled in our Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) clinical trial in November and officially graduated on May 18th! 🧠✨

He is the sweetest boy and loves making friends everywhere he goes — we absolutely loved being part of his care team and getting to watch him through his journey! Thank you to Zero and his family for being part of this important study. 🐾💛

🐾 Help Advance Canine Cancer Research at UC Davis! 🐾

We are currently seeking healthy senior dogs to participate as control patients in a clinical trial studying canine cutaneous lymphoma. This research aims to identify important genetic markers that may improve early diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and future care for dogs affected by this disease.

Eligible healthy dogs will visit the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for a single appointment. Participation includes compensation options such as a CBC/Chemistry panel, a $200 gift card, or a $200 VMTH credit.
