UC Davis Life is an effort by the Division of Student Affairs to centralize information about services, activities, and resources available to UC Davis students. Student Affairs is composed of departments that oversee a host of student-oriented services such as recreational opportunities, tutoring and advising, the student community centers, student club management, student housing, and health and counseling services. In addition, you’ll have access to resources that help you find internships and research positions, prepare for the career or graduate program of your choice, and incorporate study abroad into your education. Through Student Affairs, you’ll find a myriad of ways to engage with other students and have experiences that broaden your perspective.

October is LGBTQIA+ History Month. Learn about the history of the LGBTQIA Resource Center.

The LGBTQIA Resource Center opened on January 31, 1994, at that time as the LGB Center. The Center was created in collaboration with the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Le***an, Gay and Bisexual Issues and was largely sparked by activism from students, staff and faculty.

In 1997, the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee voted to add ‘Transgender’ to its name and to the name of the Center. In 1999, the Center hired its first full-time coordinator to provide even further resources for the students and campus community in the areas of programming, advising and education. In 2013, the Resource Center added Q***r, Intersex, Asexual to its name in order to be more reflective of the work of the LGBTQIA Resource Center and the many communities they serve.

The Center provides a welcoming and affirming space for the LGBTQIA+ community and many programs, events and resources. Visit the Center’s website at lgbtqiarc.ucdavis.edu or use the link in our bio.

It’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day! Today celebrates the beauty, strength, and joy of Indigenous peoples of the Americas, past and present.
