UC Davis’s transition to the M.Ed. comes at a time when California is striving to meet the needs of over 5.7 million public school students.

We're excited to announce our new teaching credential and M.Ed. program! This one-year integrated program replaces our credential/M.A. moving forward and will begin in July 2027.

The new program’s shorter time commitment can make graduate education more attainable for aspiring teachers. Graduates will also enter the teaching profession with their master’s degree, which may qualify them for higher starting pay and higher earnings over the course of their careers.

The University of California, Davis, received $953 million in external research awards in the fiscal year 2025-26, supporting a broad range of research to enhance lives through advancements in healthcare, food supply, energy solutions, education and more.

The overall amount received is similar to the previous year, down slightly by $8 million (0.8%), but the contributions by source have shifted. As usual, federal sources provided the majority of funding, totaling $496 million, up $46 million (10%) from the previous year.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, be ready to drop, cover and hold on when UC Davis tests its WarnMe emergency communications system as a participant in the Great California ShakeOut. Be sure to check that your information is current within the WarnMe system.

Millions of people across California will practice earthquake safety, and millions more around the world will participate in the drill at 10:15 a.m. their local time on what is International Shakeout Day. The Sacramento campus plans to send its WarnMe test message at the same time.

Be ready to drop, cover and hold on when UC Davis tests its WarnMe emergency communications system as a participant in the Great California ShakeOut Thursday, Oct. 15.

Jorge Dubcovsky, distinguished professor in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California, Davis, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute researcher has been named the 2026 World Agriculture Prize Laureate in the category for countries that have a developed economy. The award, given by the Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for the Agricultural and Life Sciences, or GCHERA, recognizes his pioneering scientific achievements to improve wheat and strengthen global food security. Wheat, one of the world's most widely grown staple crops, provides essential nutrition for billions of people.

A quarter-century after its founding, the Robert Mondavi Institute for W**e and Food Science is a place of groundbreaking discoveries, collaborations and educational offerings attracting top-notch students, scholars and researchers.

A transformational gift of $25 million from the Robert and Margrit Mondavi family in 2001 established the RMI to study, advance and improve w**e, brewing and food sciences.

The complex, which is clustered around five buildings and a vineyard, propelled the University of California, Davis, campus into a green building revolution. And it set in motion a legacy of giving that remains today.
