UC Davis School of Law recently welcomed leadership from China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) School of International Law to King Hall to reaffirm our partnership.

Dean Jessica Berg and Associate Dean Beth Greenwood met with CUPL Professor of Law and Dean of the School of International Law, Juqian Li, and other members of the CUPL leadership team. For 30 years, our two institutions have built a relationship rooted in scholars and faculty working side by side, and we are excited to explore what comes next.

Panning for gold in the Golden State! ⛏️✨ Our LL.M. and exchange students and visiting scholars headed to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma to try their hand at gold panning and dig into the history of the California Gold Rush.

We would love to thank everyone who came out to meet with our Director of Admissions and Global Outreach, Samudra Kugel, at the LL.M. Fairs hosted by educationusabrasilia in Rio De Janeiro and São Paulo this week.

Special recognition goes to our alums, Pedro Quagliato (LL.M. ’07) and his daughter Helena, and João Del Fiol, a UC Davis Law Summer Programs participant, who came to the São Paulo LL.M. Fair to share their experiences and insights with attendees.

Aggie pride, spotted abroad! UC Davis alum Kevin Murakami, who studied International Relations, served as the opening speaker for the EducationUSA São Paulo LLM Fair in Brazil where he met up with UC Davis Law: International Programs Director of Admissions and Global Outreach, Samudra Kugel who was attending the event 🇧🇷

Kevin is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Minister Counselor, currently serving in São Paulo after previous postings in Bogotá, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, Baghdad, Karachi, and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The 2026 BRICS IP & Innovation Forum brought together experts, academics, business leaders, law students, and public authorities to discuss key intellectual property and innovation challenges in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in September. Recently, our students had the opportunity to visit the Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye Sacramento building for a firsthand look at the American legal process! They sat in on live court cases and met with Judge Allison Williams, gaining valuable insight into how the U.S. judicial system operates in practice.
