Humphrey Fellowship Program provides 10 months of professional enrichment and non-degree graduate-level study in the United States for accomplished mid-level professionals from designated countries. The Humphrey Fellowship Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is a U.S. government international exchange program supported by the people of t

he United States. The program is administered by the Institute of International Education, in cooperation with the U.S. Humphrey Fellows are selected based on their potential for leadership and their commitment to public service in either the public or the private sector. The Program fosters a mutual exchange of knowledge and understanding about issues of common concern in the United States and the Fellows’ home countries and offers Fellows valuable opportunities for leadership development and professional engagement with Americans and their counterparts from more than 90 different nations. Over 5,000 men and women have been honored as Humphrey Fellows since the program began in 1978. Approximately 170 Fellowships are awarded annually. Fifteen major universities in the United States host Humphrey Fellows. These host universities are chosen for their excellence in the Program's designated fields of study and for the resources and support they offer Humphrey Fellows.

A special thank you to Gella Abella, our Fellow from the Philippines, who spoke to attendees about her experiences in the Fellowship so far in 2024!

Last week, we celebrated our UC Davis The Fulbright Program Students and Scholars and our UC Davis The Hubert H Humphrey Fellowship Program Fellows. The evening reflected on the importance of global exchange and the decades of impact these programs have had on UC Davis.

In addition to hearing from Fulbright and Humphrey participants about their experiences, attendees heard from UC Davis Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Mary Croughan, Vice Provost and Dean of Global Affairs Joanna Regulska, and keynote speaker Jill Nash of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

🇸🇻🌱 Congrats to Luis Antonio Nieto Gonzalez for receiving a 2024 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund grant. His project, "Agroecological Garden for Sustainable Development," will empower 35 families in El Salvador's dry corridor with training in agroecology, climate resilience, and entrepreneurship.
