We're excited to announce our new teaching credential and M.Ed. program! This one-year integrated program replaces our credential/M.A. moving forward and will begin in July 2027.

The new program’s shorter time commitment can make graduate education more attainable for aspiring teachers. Graduates will also enter the teaching profession with their master’s degree, which may qualify them for higher starting pay and higher earnings over the course of their careers.

How can creative work contribute to more equitable education?

Join award-winning director, screenwriter, and producer Luiza Botelho and University of Connecticut literacy scholar, educator, and artist Dr. Grace D. Player on October 22 at the UC Davis International Center for “Creative Praxis, Multiliteracies, and the Arts.”

Part of the Expanding Equity in Educational Research speaker series, this event brings together perspectives from filmmaking and literacy education. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., with presentations from 4–6 p.m. and a reception to follow.

Last month, Prof. Alicia Rusoja gave a scholarly presentation to master's and doctoral students, as well as the general public, at Universidad de Chile. Her talk covered participatory action research and her work with Latino immigrant communities in the United States, exploring how education, critical thinking, and community knowledge can bring generations together to inspire civic engagement and build new ways to create change.

Our Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound Director Samuel Blanco III was recently honored by the Council for Opportunity in Education with the Walter O. Mason Jr. Award! This award recognizes Sam's contributions to college opportunity programs and his work to improve educational equity for students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation college students, and students with disabilities.

Sam has served the UC Davis TRIO Programs for 35 years and held roles as board chair of the Council for Opportunity in Education, president of the Western Association of Educational Opportunity Personnel, and TRIO trainer at Sonoma State University. Congratulations, Sam!
