Join us this Thursday the 15th for the 2026 Erik C. Banks Memorial Lecture in Philosophy, featuring Dr. Sean Silver, Associate Professor of English at Rutgers University.

Silver’s work crosses the boundaries of literature, science, material culture, history, and craft—informed not only by his academic research, but also by his experience as a professional joiner making cabinets and furniture. In “The Philosophy of Color and the American Revolution,” he'll bring that multidisciplinary perspective to the fascinating story of Edward Bancroft, a Revolutionary-era spy who also developed an influential theory of color through experiments with North American botanicals.

Dr. Oroszi talked about her cutting-edge lab, and how she builds neural networks for videos and for robots. Our students enjoyed learning firsthand about her work, which has just been published by Forbes!
