Wright State University is a national public university in Dayton, Ohio with more than 11,000 students. Offering 315 degree programs, the university is made up of five colleges, two schools, and a branch campus in Celina, Ohio. Army ROTC courses were offered to Wright State students for the first time in 1974. A cross-enrollment contract was established between the University of Dayton and Wright State University in 1976. This allowed ROTC students to take classes instructed by UD ROTC Cadre at the Wright State campus. ROTC Cadre were permanently assigned to Wright State in 1978. An Extension Center Agreement was completed in April 1980. Both Wright State University and the students have changed, but the goal of the ROTC program remains the same—to produce quality officers. On September 1, 1997, the Secretary of the Army, the Honorable Togo West, established Wright State ROTC as a Host Center, allowing it to establish its own traditions. Our Mission: To harness and develop the leadership potential of current and future Wright State University students to commission competent and confident officers to serve and lead in the United States Army.
