What does it mean to be a military-affiliated student?

It means being more than a uniform.

At the Sinclair Su***de Prevention Mini Resource Fair, students explored their different roles and identities. Through our More Than a Uniform activity, they added stickers representing parts of their lives to our soldier “Rick”.
Veteran. Student. Parent. Employee. Spouse. Friend. Leader. Volunteer. And more.
Each sticker transformed Rick into a reminder that military-affiliated students are complete people with goals, talents, responsibilities, and stories beyond their military role.
We enjoyed seeing students participate, connect, and express this message. ❤️

Land of the free, because of the brave. 🇺🇸✨ Wishing our Sinclair military family a safe and happy 4th of July! As we celebrate 250 years of independence, we reflect on liberty, unity, and self-determination. For our military community, the 4th isn't just fireworks and barbecues; it’s a reminder of the service members who defend these ideals.
To student veterans, active-duty service members, guardsmen, reservists, and their families: thank you for your service.
📢 Holiday Schedule: Sinclair campuses are closed Friday, July 3rd, with no classes or office hours. Regular hours resume Monday, July 6th.
💬 How is your family celebrating? Share your traditions, parades, or fireworks spots around Dayton! 👇Stay safe and enjoy the weekend, Tartans! 🎆

Today, we come together to honor Juneteenth (June 19th), the historic day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and ensure freedom for the last enslaved Americans.
For our military-connected community, this day is a powerful reminder of how closely military service is tied to the protection of core constitutional rights and human liberty. It’s a moment to celebrate the triumph of freedom, recognize the profound resilience of Black Americans, and renew our shared commitment to a more just and equitable future.
All Sinclair campuses will be closed on Friday, June 19th. There will be no classes, and offices will be closed.
How is your family celebrating or reflecting on freedom this weekend? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below! 👇
