The Wright State University bassoon studio celebrated International Bassoon Day today with a performance at the elevator lobby and an open rehearsal in the Creative Arts Center lobby. The 9 bassoon choir included WSU bassoon instructor Bill Jobert and played a variety of pieces they are working on this semester. The freshman bassoon trio coached by grad student Lucas Swiderski performed as well. Shout out to freshman bassoonist Carson Rowe for making buttons for everyone to wear!

We are excited to share this new College Vocal Audition Workshop!

State University alumnus Christina Smith (director of the Kettering Children's Choir) in collaboration with the WSU Voice Department have worked together to create this college voice audition workshop on Saturday, November 7th. Participating students will participate in masterclass sessions as well as Q&A with vocal faculty and music majors about the voice program, the audition process, and WSU in general. Additionally, some students will be able to have short lesson sessions to work on technique and repertoire. Smith and the WSU faculty want to create a bridge for students who are thinking of auditioning for music degrees in college to better set them up for success.

The event is free but you must register in advance. Email to reserve your spot: [email protected]

Wright State University music faculty Dr. Lina Lee and Dr. Sowell had a wonderful visit to Stivers School for the Arts! 🎹🎷

They enjoyed performing a saxophone and piano duo for the students, meeting young musicians, and sharing information about the upcoming WSU Piano Festival on November 14.

It was especially rewarding to connect with such engaged and enthusiastic students and to share more about the musical opportunities available at Wright State.

Thank you to Stivers School for the Arts for the warm welcome! We look forward to welcoming students to Wright State this November! 💚💛
