Nearly a decade after first arriving at UD, Joseph Hughton-Berko finally crossed the graduation stage — a milestone that once felt out of reach. His growing faith, church community, UD student organizations and mentors helped him persevere and persist.

Izzy Kemp didn’t come to UD to choose between engineering and softball — she came to do both.

A mechanical engineering major and record-setting softball pitcher, Kemp has shaped her UD experience through a balance of academic rigor, athletic excellence and a commitment to growth.

She will graduate this weekend and step into her career in medical device manufacturing, shaped by her parents.

Engineers don’t make mistakes; they make revisions. For Tyler Sprague, that meant printing gas pedals and steering wheels, refining the designs before committing to costly and irreversible metal parts.

Between the fall semester 2024 and spring 2025, the University of Dayton’s Makerspace expanded from three 3D printers to 20 state-of-the-art machines.

The upgrades have made the Makerspace competitive compared to public colleges and universities and, thanks to donors, Flyers will be even more competitive when seeking internships, co-ops and jobs.
