Sharing news, accomplishments and the a-maize-ing things happening on our campus. CECS is a vibrant and diverse community that includes more than 1800 undergraduates, 1200 graduate students, and 70 tenured and tenure-track faculty across a wide-array of disciplines. The mission of the college is supported by advisory boards of alumni and industrial leaders, faculty committees, and a dedicated team of department, research, and instructional staff. We currently offer 11 undergraduate degree programs (plus two concurrent degree programs), along with 15 master’s and 6 Ph.D. Most master level programs are also available through asynchronous distance learning. Additionally, undergraduate students have the option to participate in a cooperative education track.

🏁 A major milestone for the Dearborn Electric Racing team!

At Oakland University, the team successfully completed its first competition since the team’s revamp—and in nearly a decade.

The team passed the Brakes Test within the first 30 minutes. Although autocross brought challenges and required several rounds of troubleshooting, team members worked together to complete five successful runs with no electrical faults. They finished 3rd among the electric vehicle teams and recorded the 62nd-fastest run out of 172 total runs.

This achievement reflects countless hours of hard work, late nights, problem-solving, and dedication. It was an exciting way to close the 2025–2026 vehicle season, and the team is incredibly proud of how far it has come.

We are looking forward to what they will accomplish in the 2026–2027 season! ⚡🏎️

Software Engineering senior Zeinab Zeine spent her summer interning with DTE Energy’s Grid Modeling and Analytics team, building tools that improve power routing, automate workflows and provide real-time data.

She credits hands-on learning at UM-Dearborn and support from the CECS Career Success Hub with helping her land her dream internship.

“I never felt like just another student at UM-Dearborn. I always felt like there were people who knew me, supported me, and genuinely wanted to help me succeed,” Zeine says. “I am thankful to everyone who helped me reach my dream of working for DTE.”
