Summer Around the CCS ☀️🌊

From representing Piedmont University at the 2026 CCS SAAC Retreat to serving as a camp counselor at Camp Kudzu and making memories at Ocean Isle Beach, Piedmont University soccer student-athlete Katelyn Brown made the most of her summer both on and off the field! ⚽️

Brown spent part of her summer in Huntsville, Alabama, representing Piedmont at the CCS SAAC Retreat, where she connected with fellow student-athletes and collaborated on ideas to help strengthen the conference. She also volunteered as a cabin counselor at Camp Kudzu in Rutledge, Georgia, supporting children living with type 1 diabetes—an experience that was especially meaningful as someone who also lives with T1D.

Through her experiences this summer, Brown learned the importance of adaptability, leadership and meeting people where they are. She now heads into her junior year with new experiences, meaningful connections and plenty of memories—including another year of her Ocean Isle Beach tradition with her high school friends! 🌊☀️

🎙️⚾️🌎 Summer Around the CCS!

For Asbury University baseball student-athlete Hank Burns, this summer was all about saying YES to new experiences!

From working as a Media Intern & DJ for the Lexington Legends and learning the ins and outs of live sports production, to serving as a Huddle Leader at FCA Leadership Camp, Hank found plenty of opportunities to grow, serve and learn.

He also traveled overseas for a two-week study abroad experience in Rome and Florence, Italy, where he explored the culture, literature and history of the country. 🇮🇹

His biggest summer takeaway? Time management. Balancing work, leadership, travel and relationships taught Hank the importance of prioritizing what matters most.

And his favorite summer memory? Seeing the Colosseum in Rome for the first time! 🏛️
