On April 29, Luther College hosted a workshop highlighting the role of AI in the Liberal Arts co-sponsored by the Campus Programming Board, CEPE, and Paideia. This workshop introduced the campus community to some of the most recent ideas and discussions regarding our relationship to evolving AI technologies such as chatbots. We discussed questions such as "can chatbots have conscious experience" and "how do we know if they do." Our students enjoyed these discussions and engaged them enthusiastically.

Before the Spring 2022 semester begins, we’ll be sharing reflections from religion faculty and students on Fall 2021.

Professor of Religion Robert Shedinger writes, “In my first-year section of Introduction to Biblical Studies this semester, I experimented with an ungrading approach to class. Instead of putting letter grades on all assignments, I gave feedback and students had the opportunity to reflect on their learning in the class at the midterm and final and help determine their own grade for the course. I think this helped students become more actively engaged in their own learning process.”

Before the Spring 2022 semester begins, we’ll be sharing reflections from religion faculty and students on Fall 2021.

Religion major Alison Merrill shares, “One thing I love about religion classes at Luther is the many ways that we are taught to think about the world. We get to interact with peers from all walks of life and learn from them. Being in a space to push your understanding and challenge you to think differently about topics you have learned your whole life is what makes religion at Luther so great!”
