The Sports and Entertainment Law Society is accepting applications for its executive board. A resume and short statement detailing your interest are due by April 15th at 8:00am.

The aim of the group is to promote the professional needs and goals of students who wish to pursue a career in entertainment and/or sports law.
Activities will include lectures and networking events that help students find information about summer school options, internship opportunities, contacts within the industry, writing competitions and fostering ways for students to keep up with current issues in sports and entertainment law.
The following positions are open for election:
· President
o Preside over meetings of the Executive Board, General SELS Assemblies, and be present at Student Leader meetings.
o Maintain the objectives and goals of SELS throughout meetings as outlined in the rules and regulations herein.
o Direct Executive Board members as to their responsibilities and ensure Executive Board members are acting in the interest of SELS. At times this means delegating duties to other Board members.
o With the help of the Treasurer, develop a budget to be submitted to the SBA. Present matters to the SBA that require permission, money allocation, or other notice.
· Vice President
o Assist the President with everyday matters.
o If the President is unable to carry out his/her duties for any reason, the Vice-President is to assume the duties of the President.
o Help contact potential presenters, panel members, and/or public speakers to present topics of relevance to the members of SELS and the general student body.
o Assist in maintaining a balance between Sports and Entertainment to ensure both topics are given equal treatment.
· Treasurer
o Call and organize one meeting per semester to prepare a budget for the SBA. This meeting should take place at least two weeks before the SBA deadline for budget submissions.
o Prepare the budget for the upcoming semester regardless of the Treasurer's status as an Officer of SELS.
o Help the President in presenting a budget, subject to approval, to the SBA of NIU College of Law. The President will be responsible to attend SBA Finance Meetings.
o Keep all budget/finance records. This includes but is not limited to any finances used on behalf of SELS, money obtained from the SBA, or money allocated to a special event. All monetary transactions shall be recorded and properly stored in the case of their request by the President, SBA, or other offices.
o Obtain the signature of the President for all financial matters, including payments to vendors, financial transactions with public speakers, or other monetary transactions used to promote SELS.
· Secretary
o Maintain proper communication between the Executive Board, regular members, and the general student body. This includes but is not limited to providing meeting announcements, announcing special events, and publicizing speakers.
o Record topics discussed at both Executive Board meetings and SELS General Assembly meetings.
o Ensure all relevant and important topics are discussed before the conclusion of a meeting.
· Social Media Chair
o Maintain the SELS website.
o Design and create posters, flyers, and social media posts for the SELS Facebook and Instagram pages.
· 2L Representative
o Promote the group and recruit new members throughout the academic year.
All positions will take effect for the fall semester of 2023 and run one academic year.
