Joseph Schwantner's "...and the mountains rising nowhere" is a unique, challenging and fun piece for wind bands that includes whistling, singing, playing tuned glasses and more. Tom Bough, professor of music and director of bands at NIU was on Rockford's WREX-TV to discuss the NIU Wind Ensemble's preparations as they will perform the piece Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. during the Combined Wind Bands concert in Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the NIU Music Building.
