We are a vibrant research community with 15 tenured/tenure-track professors, about 200 undergraduate students majoring in chemistry, and about 40 graduate students studying in and researching the vast field of chemistry and biochemistry. This week, Abdul Hussain successfully completed his accelerated ("4+1") B.S./M.S. degree, marking our first student to complete this new program. Abdul's research, which he initiated during his undergraduate studies, explored the novel use of DNA molecules for next generation diagnostics. Congratulations to Abdul and his advisor, Prof. Irina Nesterova.
