NIU Law hosted its 9th annual Junior Faculty Scholars Conference in Chicago, bringing together 69 junior faculty scholars and senior faculty from across the country - the largest attendance in the conference’s history! With its continued growth, the program has expanded to one and a half days, giving participants even more time to share works-in-progress, exchange ideas, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and receive valuable feedback from both peers and senior faculty.

A special thank you to Professor Greg Elinson, who chaired this year’s planning committee, the entire planning committee, and our dedicated law student volunteers for helping make the conference a success. We’re also grateful to Loyola University Chicago School of Law for the use of their Chicago campus to host our annual conference!

Congratulations to The Honorable Andrea Zenker (’05) who was sworn in as a Circuit Judge in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit in Kane County. Judge Zenker has over 20 years of legal experience as a civil litigator. She began her career at Higgins & Burke, P.C., as a law clerk before spending 16 years as an attorney at the firm. In 2021 she became a Partner at Higgins, Zenker & Coyle, P.C.

Her professional affiliations include the Illinois State Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association, where she previously served as a director on the Board of Managers and currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer. She previously served as a chair and co-chair of the KCBA Civil Practice Committee. Judge Zenker currently serves as a member of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness in the Second District.
