The Woltemade Center provides unique opportunities for students studying in OWU’s Economics Department and throughout OWU’s many liberal arts based majors and disciplines. ticipate in meaningful internships through the Blaine E. Grimes Summer Grants Program, to work directly with faculty on research projects through the Norman Leonard Student Research Grant, to participate in the Burton D. Morgan Student Paper Competition, to be nominated for the Woltemade Prize, and to be selected for the Joann P.

"Hi! My name is Caitlin Culler, and I’m from Olmsted Falls, Ohio. In high school, I was involved in several honors societies: Key Club, Student Ambassadors, drill team, swimming/diving, and theater. I enjoy art, music in general, and being around people. I plan to double major in Finance and Accounting, and I’m very excited for all the opportunities OWU has to offer!"

September 10th: At this workshop, attendees can learn about how Student Made is helping student entrepreneurs transform their ideas into real businesses.

September 24th: This Connection Conference event allows guests to learn, network, and shop from local BIPOC-owned businesses and OWU BIPOC student entrepreneurs.

October 15th: This workshop encourages students to pursue their business ideas by introducing the basics of setting up a side hustle in Ohio.

November 12th: This interactive workshop teaches the fundamentals of effective presentation skills, such as body position, gestures, movement, and voice control.

Scholar Tuesdays: Corns Business and Entrepreneurial Scholar Spotlight ⭐

"Hi, my name is Bilal Ahmad, and I am a rising junior at Ohio Wesleyan University. I am an Accounting and Finance double major with a potential minor in Politics and Government. Maintaining a 4.0 GPA, I am actively involved on campus as part of the Accounting and Finance Fellows Program and the Investment Club. Additionally, I serve as a WCSA Budget Senator and work as an Accounting Tutor at the Sagan ARC. I am driven by a long-term goal of obtaining my CPA and CFA certifications, and I look forward to being a part of this program."

Fellow Fridays: Woltemade Economics & Business Fellows Spotlight ‼️

"Hello, my name is Robert Beatty, and I'm from Wadsworth, Ohio. I graduated from Wadsworth High School, where I played four years of varsity tennis and was team captain for two years. I also ran varsity cross-country for three years and participated in show choir for four years. I was a member of NHS and Tri-M Honor Society for two years, as well as the leader of our International Club for two years. I am excited to participate in the WEB Fellows Program as I double major in Business Administration and Environmental Studies. I plan to continue my tennis career with the OWU men's tennis team and participate in the Global Scholars Program. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, playing pickleball and ping-pong, listening to music, and playing video games. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and getting involved in campus activities."

Last summer, Tristan Ruiz De Somocurcio worked as a market researcher and sales student intern at COTI, which is an adaptive digital platform developed to bridge the digital gap for elderly individuals. During this internship, he was tasked with conducting market research for international markets, examining competitors, and translating professional presentations into English. This experience and time abroad allowed Tristan to overcome challenges, become more culturally competent, develop new technical skills, and grow professionally.

This past summer, Tasfia Rahman had the opportunity to be part of Summer on the Cuyahoga in Cleveland, Ohio. This memorable experience allowed her to work at her internship during the day and attend events such as civic panels, cultural outings, networking nights with alumni, and even community service projects. This program helped Tasfia to get out of her comfort zone to network, gain independence, connect with mentors, and learn valuable life lessons.

Last summer, Nia Barjatya completed an internship at the American Financial Services Association Education Foundation as a financial education and outreach student intern. Her core responsibility was to investigate how financial literacy is integrated into education systems at many levels for a 50-state research initiative. In addition to this, Nia also participated in drafting social media posts, reviewing curriculum, corresponding with partners, and assisting with administrative tasks related to fundraising. During this experience, her tasks helped her further develop her analytical skills, communication skills, content development skills, and organizational/administrative skills.

Last summer, Nagomi Katano had the opportunity to go to the Swiss embassy and the New Zealand embassy in Washington, D.C. through The Fund for American Studies. She was able to learn about opportunities for students and attended seminars about current political situations and potential solutions. Then, with her internship at the Alliance of Innovation and Infrastructure, Nagomi was tasked with writing blog posts, assisting in research, improving their website, and creating a marketing video featuring some of Washington D.C.’s most famous destinations. These incredible experiences helped Nagomi form a clearer vision of her future goals and further develop her writing and research skills.
