13 of our turf management students are out in Orlando Florida this week competing at the GCSAA turf bowl. Wish them luck!!! Keep an eye out for more pictures and updates. We also want to send out a huge thank you to Andy Eick and 1st turf and ornamental for sponsoring this years team sh*ts.

This fall, we were fortunate enough to be able to conduct a trial utilizing some amazing new equipment. Chris Kelly, one of our seniors along with instructor Jeremy Swift utilized our Ventrac tractor and new Weedbine attachment to facilitate a trial out on the golf course. This new innovative tool has the ability to remove weeds from turf without the use of chemicals. Chris conducted the trial throughout the fall semester and is compiling all the data now. We can’t wait to share the results.

A few weeks ago, our turf stundents completed greens aerification at the college golf course. This a is huge milestone for the program as this process hadn’t been completed entirely by students in over 15 yrs. We also want to thank for the use of their 648 pro core.

Last week, SUNY Delhi and the college golf course hosted a superintendent walk and talk led by Frank Rossi and the New York GCSA. Over 70 superintendents, students, and alumni were in attendance. Thank you to the New York GCSA and Tom Kaufman for hosting such a great event.

A lot of new and exciting things have been happening with the Turf Management program at Delhi. One of the main being a new partnership with Ventrac tractors and Grassland Equipment. In the fall, students and faculty took delivery of a brand new 4520N tractor and several key attachments to use during the year. This partnership has put a very specaliazed and state of the art piece of equipment, directly into students hands to use and gain experience on. We look forward to building on this partnership and utilizing this amzing piece of equipment on many future projects. Thank you Grassland Equipment & Irrigation and Ventrac
