BRIEF HISTORY OF OMICRON UPSILON LAMBDA (OUL)
ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INC. During the hot summer months of 1987, thirteen visionary Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha responded to the need of further expanding the “Aims” of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. After months of careful planning and organization these Brothers petitioned the governing body Alpha Phi Alpha for the dispensation of e
stablishing a new chapter in South Florida. Omicron Upsilon Lambda along with 6 other graduate chapters was granted dispensation to organize. Located in the largest of Florida’s 67 counties, Palm Beach, Omicron Upsilon Lambda was established in the city of Delray Beach, Florida; where it continues to thrive and expand today. Since its infancy, OUL has continued to uphold the Fraternity’s goals and objectives. Throughout the years, OUL has been active in not only providing tutoring to many youth within the local community, but also computer skills, and mentoring programs. In addition, OUL exercises the Fraternity’s national objectives by participating in voter registration drives as well as taking major roles in supporting local and national cultural events within the community and afar.
