Do you need a feel-good story of the week? Well, here it is... students in UNT's PUSH (Persevere UNTil Success Happens) program had more than just the usual college move-in experience. Thanks to the Dallas nonprofit Greater Than Expectations, the students who have experienced foster care were surprised with full dorm makeovers. Read all about it... and see the looks on their faces courtesy of the The Dallas Morning News:

A Dallas nonprofit transformed rooms for 10 freshmen. The rooms were catered to their tastes — ranging from outer space, to the Kansas City Chiefs, to the color pink.

Stacy Nunnelee, principal lecturer in our Department of Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology, is part of an exciting upcoming project - a play by award-winning playwright Cris Eli Blak about people who stutter. Nunnelee was approached by a friend, Gregg Jackson, who wanted to contribute to the world of stuttering through a play he could produce and use the proceeds to give back to the stuttering community.
Through some research, and a connection with SPACE, a nonprofit that advocates for people who stutter and promotes the arts, she was put in direct contact with Blak who agreed to write The Sound of the Wild Horse, a beautiful and inspiring story about someone who is navigating acceptance of stuttering along with life and relationships.
It will be performed July 31 and Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. at Argyle's New Song School of the Arts' Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $10.

Today, we recognize the progress made through accessible infrastructure, assistive technology, and universal design, as we continue working toward a fully inclusive future. 🦅💚
