The Rutt Bridges Venture Fund is still accepting business plan submissions for Fall 2026. Investments range from $5,000 to $50,000 for innovative, high-impact business ideas, and submissions are open to all current CU Denver students and Denver community members. Review is now rolling. At this year's CU Innovation Day, CU Denver alumnus Eugene Zhang won the $1,000 people's choice grant! for Renmira. A platform helping hospitals share medications more efficiently, voted on by the 500+ attendees in the room. He was joined by fellow alumnus Brandon Slade of Untapped Learning and recent MS Entrepreneurship grads Mekella and Julie Butterfield of Ella's Charm, all showing what's possible when CU Denver students turn their ideas into real ventures!!

Applications are now open for the Catalyst Incubator, a 16-week program at the Jake Jabs Center for Entrepreneurship built for early-stage CU Denver student founders ready to move from a validated idea to an investment-ready venture. Each week brings either a two-hour workshop with an expert guest speaker or a one-hour session with a dedicated mentor, covering customer discovery, funding strategy, go-to-market planning, and operational ex*****on. Participants also get free use of open workspace and an equity-free membership. The program culminates in Demo Day this March, where teams pitch their refined businesses and MVPs directly to investors. Applications are due by midnight on Thursday, October 8. Colorado Startup Week celebrated its 15th year last week, and CU Innovation Day kicked things off with a strong showing from CU Denver! On September 14, more than 500 people, including 150 local high school students, gathered at the History Colorado Center for the third annual event. Alumni Eugene Zhang of Renmira and Brandon Slade of Untapped Learning shared their ventures, and recent MS Entrepreneurship grads Mekella and Julie Butterfield showcased Ella's Charm. Eugene also earned a $1,000 grant after winning the attendee vote!
