More buzz about our Enrichment Program instructor, Ted Floyd! Denver7 recently featured his discovery of the first Japanese Burrowing Cricket in Colorado — a fascinating story of curiosity and observation in action.

A University of Denver instructor heard something he recognized, and it turned out to be the first known detection in Colorado of an invasive cricket from Asia.

Big news from our Birds on the Move in Autumn course — and it’s not about birds!

After class, instructor Ted Floyd made an incredible discovery: the first-ever record in Colorado of the Japanese Burrowing Cricket, an invasive species spreading across North America.

Even more amazing? He’d just finished teaching about how spectrographic analysis is transforming nature study — and that’s exactly how he confirmed his find!
