Long time ULA member, Cynthia Klippenstein, will be missed.
February 8, 1936 — March 11, 2023
Cynthia was born in Denver on February 8, 1936, to Joe and Verona (Donehue) Clifford. The family, Cynthia, big sister Yvonne, and their parents, moved to New York City when she was 7 years old so her father could study voice at the Met. In Denver, she attended Blessed Sacrament elementary and in New York, Blessed Sacrament elementary and high school, and Fordham University.

Cynthia worked for many years at Kidder Peabody & Co, Investment Management, on Wall Street, and then left to work at the Smithers Alcoholism Center. Cynthia married George Klippenstein on January 23, 1981, and they settled in Manhattan. Three years later, they moved to Tokyo Japan for George’s work with J. P. Morgan & Co. They returned to Manhattan after five years in Tokyo and retired to Denver, Colorado in 2005.

Cynthia volunteered with the Maryknoll addictions center for most of her time in Tokyo and continued her work with addiction assistance groups and volunteer opportunities after returning to New York and while in Denver.

Cynthia enjoyed helping others and always kind of wished she had been a nurse. She had a wonderful laugh that pealed across whatever room she walked into. She loved to see new places, meet new people, and learn about new cultures. She was a fan of the theater and opera, a pianist, and had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed many aspects of New York but missed the family in Denver and the mountain towns, views, and scenic drives.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, George, a nephew, Ned McDonald of New York City, numerous cousins and extended family, and friends in Denver, New York City, and Tokyo. She will be sorely missed.
