The girls of Alpha Phi share a rich history, dating back to 1872 when Alpha Phi was founded by ten forward thinking women at Syracuse University, and it is now one of the oldest and largest women's fraternities in North America. Our special bond as sisters in Alpha Phi drives us forward as a chapter. In each other we find love, support, strength, fun, and lifelong friendship. Our sisterhood is our

true connection, and the friendships made at Alpha Phi will last a lifetime! Symbol: the Ivy leaf
Colors: Silver and Bordeaux
Mascot: Phi Bear

The Iota Xi chapter at DU is one of five Panhellenic sororities on campus. Phis are always excited to participate when the Greek Community comes together in various events like Greek Week and Greek Service Days.

Next up on our Hometown Tour: Boulder, Colorado! Hear from incoming senior Katherine about growing up in Boulder, why she chose DU, and how going Greek has shaped her college experience and given her a community she’s so grateful for!

“Boulder holds such a special place in my heart, and I’m so grateful to have grown up there. I love being outside whether I’m hiking, camping, or skiing, but also love spending time in the city trying new restaurants and activities. Boulder is the perfect mix of both!

I originally never wanted to stay in state for college, but looking back at my past three years at DU, I know I made the right choice. I chose Denver because it offered one of my majors, socio-legal studies, and for the amazing study abroad opportunities.

Although I’m closer to home than most, I was still looking for a community as a freshman. I was never set on joining a sorority, but as soon as I met the girls in Alpha Phi, I knew joining would be such a meaningful part of my college experience. I’m so grateful for the friendships and memories Alpha Phi has given me and truly don’t think I would have had the same experience at DU without it.

Joining a sorority has given me so much more than just friendships. I’ve had opportunities to grow, get involved, and gain skills I’ll carry with me long after college. I’ve served as Director of Chairs for VP of Recruitment and VP of Health, Wellness and Accountability, and now serve as Director of Public Relations for Order of Omega, DU’s Greek Honor Society. Greek life has positively influenced so many parts of my life, and I’m so proud and grateful to call myself an Alpha Phi. 🙂‍↕️💫♥️”

Next up on our Hometown Tour: Duluth, Minnesota! Hear from incoming sophomore Grace about her hometown and how going Greek helped turn Denver into her home away from home!

I moved to Duluth, MN during middle school, and it quickly became home. Living on Lake Superior is something I’ll always be grateful for! I love spending time by the lake, walking around Canal Park, hiking the North Shore, and biking to the beach.

I chose DU because Colorado has always felt like a second home. I have family here and have always loved the mountains, so moving away felt a little easier.

Denver quickly became home, but joining Alpha Phi made it even more special. My big and ggbig welcomed me from day one and introduced me to so many amazing people. I’m so grateful for the friendships, memories, and community Alpha Phi has given me! 💫💛🫂

Next up on our Hometown Tour: Los Angeles! Incoming Junior Quinn is taking us around her hometown and sharing how going Greek helped turn Denver into her home away from home.

“I was born and raised in the valley of LA. I loved living in LA because I could hike one day, and relax at the beach the next, and explore the city! LA is home to some of the most amazing food and views and entertainment, and I am so lucky to have all these to come back to.

I chose DU because it was close to the city, but also the mountains, so I could never feel that far away from home. I thought surrounding myself with familiar things would be what makes the transition into college easier.

But what actually made Denver feel like home wasn’t the mountains or downtown, it was the lifelong friendships I found in Alpha Phi. The people I’ve met from joining aphi have become some of the most important friendships in my life, and they’re the true reason why DU feels like home! 🩵”
