Election Integrity & the 2026 Midterms

Please join DU's Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs, in partnership with the Sturm College of Law, and the Rule of Law Taskforce of The Colorado Bar Association for "Colorado's Trusted Election System in a World of Controversy and Conflicting Pressures," a timely panel discussion on the security of Colorado's 2026 midterm elections.

An expert-led discussion will walk through Colorado's record against a turbulent two months in Washington: two executive orders, more than thirty DOJ lawsuits over voter rolls, a Supreme Court fight over USPS authority over mail ballots, and Colorado's own role as a plaintiff state in that fight.

This event is for every Colorado voter across the political spectrum who wants a factual understanding of how our elections actually work, and what's really happening at the federal level.

Speakers will include Matt Crane, Executive Director of the Colorado County Clerks Association and Molly Fitzpatrick, Boulder County Clerk and Recorder.

Korbel School Dean Frederick “Fritz” Mayer will moderate the discussion.

The Ved Nanda Center for International & Comparative Law hosts Professor David Oppenheimer for a discussion on his newly released book "The Diversity Principle: A Transformative Idea" (Yale University Press, 2026). Alexi Freeman, associate dean for Community Support & Engagement, and Professor Rashmi Goel will provide commentary. The event will be moderated by Kelley Loper, director of the Ved Nanda Center.

David B. Oppenheimer is a clinical professor of law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, and co-director of the Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality and Anti-Discrimination Law. He is the author or editor of ten books and scores of articles on US and global discrimination law.
