The 50th anniversary celebration was beautiful. It was a reunion of alumni spanning generations — from the very first students at El Centro to the class of 2026.

Three directors were there, standing like the oak trees that gave shelter to generations of students. They planted semillas that thrive even in the harshest of conditions. (Thank you Aaron Abeyta for this vision from your poem.)

It felt like going home.

If you have any pictures of the evening, please share them.

Thank you CSU Alumni Judge Martinez share your higher education and career journey.

"In the premiere episode of Rams in the Corner Office, CSU senior Alexandra Seibel sits down with alumna, Judge Michelle Martinez ('00), a first-generation college graduate whose path from Colorado State to the bench was shaped by community involvement, mentorship, and a commitment to public service. Judge Martinez shares how her time at CSU inspired her to pursue law, about the mentors who encouraged her along the way and her journey from public defender to judge, and why staying connected to the Rams community continues to matter."

It was an inspiring evening at the Alumni Night Out - Legacy of Project GO: Celebrating B/AACC & El Centro.

We heard from Manuel Ramos and Penfield Tate who shared their stories of being students of color on a predominantly white campus and the advocacy work they did to establish the foundation for the resource offices that would support future generations of students.

A Brief History of Project
In 1964 PROJECT GO was developed in an effort to incorporate the needs of all students in an academic setting, specifically targeting students from ethnically minoritized backgrounds and/or low income households. Its purpose was to identify and encourage economically disadvantaged students to continue their education beyond high school and to provide them with financial aid and academic support. In 1979 PROJECT GO became the Group Advocacy Program which comprised five offices: El Centro/Chicano Student Services, Black Student Services, Native American Student Services, Disabled Student’s Programs, and Women’s Programs.

Save the Date for Wednesday, July 22!

He’ll be speaking about the Espinosa Brothers, and be paired with Collin Van Son who'll discuss Nuclear Deterrence.

About Mixed Taste:
"Your favorite off-beat lecture series returns to the Holiday Theater! Mixed Taste is back for another summer of mismatched magic, where serious topics meet some not-so-serious fun.

Each night, two speakers take the stage with back-to-back talks on completely unrelated topics. Then the audience steps in for the Q&A and takes questions on both topics at the same time. During the first part of the program, no connections are allowed between the topics. During the Q&A, anything can happen."

Tag Team Lectures on Unrelated Topics: Enjoy and learn from experts every Wednesday.
