We thought it would be fun to have a grad cap decorating competition!! 🎉🎓

A lot of our grads have gone all out in the past and have decorated some pretty cool caps, and we want to highlight them more this year!

HOW TO ENTER:
If you’re graduating and decorating a cap, tag us, email us or DM us a photo of your cap to be entered in a grad cap competition. Submissions will close Wednesday, May 20th!
The week after graduation, we’ll upload the different caps on social media and have our followers vote on the best! The winner gets a sweet prize🎉🎓❤️

🎉You’re invited to come celebrate the graduating class of 2026! 🎉
If you’re planning on attending the Department of Social Work celebrations here is what you need to know! Please review this carefully & share with your guests so graduation day goes smoothly😌🎓

BSSW Program Graduation Celebration:
⭐️ When: Tuesday May 12th at 6:00 PM. Doors open at 5:00 PM
⭐️Where: The Tivoli Turnhall- 900 Auraria Parkway, Denver, CO
⭐️What else should I know?:
1️⃣RSVP is required to participate in this event and has been shared with graduating students. If you have NOT received an invitation yet please reach out to [email protected].
2️⃣Livestream link will be shared day of on our departments website
3️⃣Spanish translation devices are available for guests
4️⃣When graduates arrive, they will check in and proceed to the second floor balcony to finish getting ready and wait for the ceremony to begin!

MSW Program Pinning & Hooding Ceremony:
🎓When: Wednesday May 13th at 5:30 PM. Doors open at 4:30 PM. Grad must arrive by 4 PM, unless otherwise instructed to come earlier! Physical tickets not required for guests.
🎓Where: Ellie Caulkins Opera House at Denver Performing Arts Complex. 1385 Curtis Street, Denver,
CO 80204.
🎓What else should I know?:
1️⃣RSVP is required to participate in this event and has been shared with graduating students. If you have NOT received an invitation yet please reach out to [email protected].
2️⃣Livestream link will be shared day of on the Departments website.
‼️Please have your guests attending be aware of the Permitted and Prohibited Items Policy at the Opera House!
💼Bags must be smaller than 12” x 12” x 12” and must fit under designated seats.

🎉We have lots to celebrate at MSU Denver Department of Social Work! 🎉

Let’s all give a big round of applause to our Office of Social Work Student Services for winning the 2026 Team RoadRunner Award! (1st and 2nd photo)

We also want to congratulate, Nicole, our lead WDA for winning the Soar Award as well💐 (3rd photo)

Finally, we wanted to ALSO congratulate Dr. AT for their Faculty Soar award! ❤️ (4th photo)

We are so grateful for Nicole, Dr. AT and the entire OWSS team for making our department so amazing!

Meet our April alumni spotlight- De’Quan Enzor!

🎓De’Quan graduated with his MSW in 2025 and has since gone on to work as a School Social Worker in Douglas County.

💙De’Quan worked for 4 years at Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver as a club director, in HR and on the Mental Health Team. He completed an employment based internship there and loved his experience.

🙌🏾De’Quan emphasized the importance of representation of Black male Social Workers in the field and how he hopes the field can continue to grow.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us De’Quan!!

We had the BEST time at our 1st EVER Job Fair yesterday! 💼🤝♥️

88 students, professionals and community members showed up looking to connect with employers & learn more about their organizations. The vibes were high, connections were made and smiles were found alllll around😁
