CU Denver College of Arts & Media

CU Denver College of Arts & Media At the College of Arts & Media (CAM), we empower a diverse community of makers, scholars, and innovators to thrive in a rapidly evolving creative industry.

Isabella Birganti is a University of Colorado Denver alum who graduated in 2023 from the College of Arts & Media. Isabella was hired to create illustrations of some of the Auraria campus's most well-known and loved buildings.

Places like the Emmanuel have stood as a pillar of the Auraria community for over a century.

"I'm actually living it: I'm actually being an artist who is showing work," Isabella Briganti says.

Come see Isabella's illustrations at two exhibitions highlighting the history of the Auraria campus and the Emmanuel Art Gallery in particular:

๐ŸŽธ A highlight from the spring semester was CAMChella. ๐ŸŽธ

Good music and good vibes were served up all day on April 29, 2026 outside the Tivoli.

Thank you to all our University of Colorado Denver Music & Entertainment Industry Studies students who graced us with your musical and sound engineering talents. The whole campus enjoyed the hard work you put into your performances!

's on the Auraria campus has meant a lot of things to a lot of people. This year, we celebrate the Emmanuelโ€™s 150 year anniversary as a building and its 50 year anniversary as an art gallery.

โ€œThis space matters for students because itโ€™s an institution. To see my former students exhibit here and see the many student shows that have been shown here is like your first experience with a professional gallery,โ€ says Denver artist Carlos Fresquez.

Join us on June 18, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. for the opening of Come Together: 150 Years of the Emmanuel. On view June 18 through September 19, 2026.

Is design best taught as a trade, an art, or perhaps a combination of both?

In a recent article, University of Colorado Denver alum Kathy Pham explores different approaches to teaching design, from studio-based models to liberal arts and public university programs. Drawing from her own experience as a graduate of CAM's digital design program, she reflects on the value of interdisciplinary learning:

โ€œIโ€™m honestly grateful that I received my BFA degree from a state university because I didnโ€™t have to sacrifice my love for history and the social sciences to conform to a strictly studio-based curriculum.โ€

๐Ÿ“ท On view through March 18, 2026 in the Emmanuel Art Gallery, "Illuminations & Ruminations" features the photographs and other works of Albert Chong.

A faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder, Albert has been making art in Colorado for over 30 years now, but the subject of his art often takes him back to Jamaica, where his family is from.

"Illuminations & Ruminations" represents the largest collection of Chongโ€™s work that has been displayed in a solo exhibition in Colorado to date.

In addition to the exhibition currently on display in the Emmanuel, Chongโ€™s work is included in the National Gallery of Art's "Photography and the Black Arts Movement, 1955 - 1985." This traveling exhibition opened in Washington D.C. in September 2025 and will be on display at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles starting in late February 2026, and then travels to the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, Mississippi in July 2026.

Another exhibition titled "Jamaican Portraits" by Albert Chong is on display through March 28, 2026 at East Window in Boulder, Colorado.
