Anderson Academic Commons - University of Denver

Anderson Academic Commons - University of Denver "Connecting people to ideas." The Anderson Academic Commons will be a teaching library based on connectivity and collaboration.

All library resources and services are still available during the Anderson Academic Commons at Penrose Library building project - see http://library.du.edu/site/ for current services. Anderson Academic Commons:
In the same central campus location where DUโ€™s original Penrose Library was built in 1970, the Anderson Academic Commons at Penrose Library will open during Winter quarter of 2013. Students

will work together on projects, study and reflect quietly, tap into a vast array of data and knowledge, and seek help on everything from writing and math to research. The building also will serve as a resource for professors who want to incorporate the latest technology and pedagogy into their courses. As the campusโ€™ hub for inquiry, the Academic Commons will be an essential destination for every professor and student at DU. United Nations Day offers a chance to explore DUโ€™s connections to international history.

This 1966 photograph documents the groundbreaking of Cherrington Hall, with Ben Mark Cherrington (Acting Chancellor, 1943โ€“46) pictured at left. Cherrington (1885โ€“1980) contributed to the drafting of the United Nations Charter and was a co-founder of UNESCO, situating DU within the formative years of global governance and educational diplomacy.

His papers, held in the University of Denver Special Collections and Archives document his work with the UN, UNESCO, the Social Science Foundation, and many other organizations dedicated to global exchange.

On Indigenous Peoplesโ€™ Day, we honor voices, celebrate resilience, and acknowledge histories of trauma. At the DU Libraries, we believe engagement with Indigenous perspectives should not be limited to one day. Our collections and resources are here year-round to support deeper understanding, reflection, and dialogue.
