On Sunday, May 24, Grand Valley State University TRIO Upward Bound Detroit proudly celebrated our 4th Annual Academic Year Celebration at the Michigan Central NewLab building. Our scholars had an outstanding year filled with accomplishments, including earning an impressive average GPA of 3.4.

A special thank you to Detroit-Wayne Joint Building Authority CEO Clarinda Barnett-Harrison for serving as our keynote speaker and sharing such an inspiring message with our scholars and families.

We are also incredibly grateful to Michigan Central for hosting our celebration at the NewLab building.

Another huge thank you to Detroit College Access Network for generously providing Amazon gift cards for our celebration raffle.

To all of our community partners who support us throughout the year, we sincerely appreciate your collaboration. Helping students pursue their dreams of attending college takes strong partnerships and a united community effort!

Our Senior WIN Graduation was a meaningful celebration recognizing the achievements, growth, and success of our incredible Class of 2026 Scholars! As our seniors prepare for graduation and their next chapter, we were proud to honor them with TRIO Alumni awards and other special recognitions.

We were excited to welcome as our keynote speaker. Chris is a motivational speaker, author, and former NFL football player who uses his story and experiences to inspire young people to lead with resilience, purpose, and confidence. His message encouraged our scholars to keep pushing forward, even through challenges and setbacks.

Congratulations to the outstanding Class of 2026! Your journey is only beginning, and we cannot wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish. We are so proud of you! 💙🎓
