Wayne State University Physics and Astronomy Undergraduate and graduate education, and cutting-edge research, in a premier urban research university.

Advanced programs in nuclear, high energy, condensed matter and biophysics, and astronomy. Sharing science with the public through our planetarium. Our department offers several academic programs that will jump start your future career. We offer undergraduate and graduate academic programs in Physics, Biomedical Physics, and Astronomy. And, our dedicated faculty and staff are here to help you toward a successful academic career. Our world-renown faculty conducts cutting edge research in the areas of: Applied Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology, Biomedical Physics, Condensed Matter and Materials Physics, Optics, Nuclear Physics, and Particle Physics. As part of our undergraduate “honors” program, you may participate in these areas of research with a faculty mentor. In addition, each summer many undergraduates are paid to participate in research projects through the Research Experience for Undergraduates program funded by the National Science Foundation.

Welcome to a new week Warriors! This week we have a lot to look forward to with two fascinating talks lined up. On Wednesday September 30th there will be a Pan Seminar in room 312 at 4:15pm by Dr. Dillon Fitzgerald from the University of Michigan. Then on Thursday October 1st we will be holding a Colloquium by our very own Dr. Renee Ludlam in room 245 at 3:45pm. We hope to see you at both events!
