For the Great Lakes Michigan Cluster Service Project, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Alpha Rho Omega Chapter proudly united for Duffle Bags for Dignity, collecting 2,395 essential items to fill 58 duffle bags for youth navigating foster care.

More than everyday necessities, each bag represents love, dignity, and hope, reminding our youth that they are seen, valued, and supported by a community that cares.

When we come together in service, we do more than make a difference. We define greatness!

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® – Alpha Rho Omega Chapter was honored to join our fellow Metro 12 Detroit Chapters in presenting our 2026 Candidates Forum: “Your Voice. Your Vote. Your Future.”

What an incredible evening of voter education, civic engagement, and community empowerment! The nonpartisan forum provided an opportunity for members of our community to hear directly from candidates seeking federal and state offices, learn more about the issues that matter to our communities, and become better informed ahead of the November 3, 2026 General Election.

We sincerely thank our distinguished moderator, Hon. Judge Denise Langford Morris, for guiding the evening’s discussion, as well as the candidates who participated and shared their perspectives. We also thank all candidates who were invited to participate in this important civic engagement opportunity.

Special thanks to the Metro 12 Connection Planning Committee, along with the leadership and members of our Metro 12 Detroit Chapters, for their collaboration, dedication, and commitment to making this Candidates Forum possible.

Now, let’s take what we learned to the polls!

There’s no better way to start a new school year than with encouragement, excitement, and a whole lot of love! 💚

Our “Let’s Clap Them In!” Welcome Back to School Students Event was all about celebrating our students as they arrived for their first day of school. With cheers, smiles, applause, and words of encouragement, we helped students walk into the new school year feeling supported, celebrated, confident, and ready to succeed! 👏🏾🎒✏️

This initiative supports Target 1: Educational Support & Advocacy through our continued commitment to supporting educators, strengthening family and community engagement in education, and investing in confidence-building, leadership development, and mentorship opportunities for our youth.

As you watch this reel, feel the excitement and encouragement shared with our students as we reminded them that their community is cheering them on every step of the way.

We are excited to launch our signature fall community Voter Engagement Series at the Helen Moore Recreation Center! Join us beginning Friday, September 25, for free community programming designed to provide voter information, resources, and opportunities for community engagement.

All events are free and open to the public. We look forward to connecting with our community throughout the fall!

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Rho Omega Chapter, Beta Mu Chapter, and Theta Tau Chapter, had a wonderful time volunteering at the 2026 Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure on Saturday, September 12th, at Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit!

The team was proud to serve at the water station, where we passed out water and refreshments, cheered on walkers and runners, and helped keep participants energized as they made their way along the course. It was a morning filled with service, encouragement, laughter, and plenty of pink as survivors, families, supporters, volunteers, and community members came together to raise awareness and show support for those impacted by breast cancer.

We also had some fun along the way! We enjoyed taking photos with Hooper and the Detroit Pistons Dancers, as well as the event host, while soaking in the energy and excitement of this inspiring community event.

Thank you to every member who came out bright and early to serve, support, smile, and make this another memorable New Metro experience.
