Tennessee College of Applied Technology Dickson and Clarksville Campus Tennessee College of Applied Technology prepares individuals for high skill, high wage, high demand careers in fourteen programs of study.

The goal of TCAT Dickson and Clarksville Campus is to provide technical training to students to meet the occupational needs of employers in our community. Individualized instruction is utilized to the maximum in most programs. School policy provides that a student may enter a program when a vacancy occurs, start training at their own level and progress at their own rate to the level desired within the limitations of the school. Individualized instruction provides the student with the highest quality instruction possible in the occupational area of their choosing.

TCAT Dickson's campuses went pink on Thursday for its annual Pink Out Day in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Students, faculty, and staff joined in to show support for the cause by decorating classrooms and wearing pink while competing for the coveted "Pinkest Person" and "Pinkest Program" awards. Surgical Technology won the award for Pinkest Program for the Dickson, Dickson Center of Higher Education, and Williamson campuses competition, and Hannah Miller, a Dental Assisting student at the main campus, was named the Pinkest Person for those campuses. For the Clarksville and Houston County campuses competition, Building Construction Technology won the Pinkest Program award, and Clarksville campus Cosmetology student Mei Bartram was named the Pinkest Person.

Justin Beard and Carder Gossett, both first-trimester students in TCAT Dickson's Off-Road Diesel Tech program, are working to repair the air conditioning unit on this dump truck. They are using a Robinair A/C machine hooked to the high side and low side pressure points to vacuum out the system and recharge it. This means students are opening a packaged item and placing it on a sterile back table without touching or contaminating the item or the sterile field. Not all items can be "flipped", but some of the most commonly flipped items are sponges and sutures. Our Clarksville Campus Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HAC) students were treated to a special guest lecture last week when Billy Edwards, Technical Service Advisor of Habegger Complete HVAC Solutions, presented to the class. Understanding air flow including why air flow is important, proper airflow considerations for HVAC, duct sizing, setting DIP (Dual In-Line Package) switches, testing airflow, NFC / App information, and blower motor diagnostics were some of the topics Edwards covered. TCAT Dickson is grateful for the many industry partners who donate their time to teach a lesson and share valuable trade information with students.
