If your schedule permits, please join us for our next Science Seminar Series speaker, Dr. Mark Knauer, Associate Professor and Extension Swine Specialist from NCSU.
His research involves quantitative genomics, and his presentation is titled: “Enhancing the profitability of NC pig farmers through an applied research program”.

He will discuss how his applied research program has worked to improve the profitability and sustainability of pig farmers in North Carolina and throughout the world on Monday 3/3/25 at noon in The Grand Hall.

Surry Community College is offering three Sustainable Agriculture science classes during the Spring 2025 semester at SCC’s Dobson campus. Classes run from January 8, 2025, to May 25, 2025.

• Basic Farm Maintenance
• Biological Pest Management
• Organic Crop Production

All classes are eligible for curriculum credit to apply toward SCC Diploma and Degree credits.

Meet the newest additions to the SCC Applied Animal Science Program. These are three Kune Kune pigs, which are a small breed known for their sweet smell. They are from the same litter, we have two gilts and one boar (spotted one). Help us name them! Leave your ideas in the comments!
