Learning Through Exploration!

CHD 217 Math and Science for Young Children students are discovering the importance of free exploration and hands-on learning for young children—and today, they’re exploring something simple but full of possibilities: ROCKS!

By observing, touching, sorting, comparing, and asking questions about rocks, students are experiencing firsthand how open-ended exploration can encourage young learners to:

Make observations and discoveries
Ask questions and share ideas
Develop curiosity and problem-solving skills
Explore at their own pace
Connect learning to the natural world

Sometimes the best learning begins with something as simple as a rock and the freedom to wonder, “What can I discover?”

How do we ensure our Child Development courses stay current, relevant, and meaningful for our students?

We keep learning, too!

Attending professional conferences gives our CHD faculty opportunities to:

* Stay current with new trends and best practices in early childhood education
* Learn about updated policies and expectations
* Discover new teaching materials and resources
* Build professional connections and partnerships
* Bring in new ideas and guest speakers to enrich our students’ learning experiences

Professional learning doesn’t stop when we become instructors—it’s an ongoing part of providing our students with the best education possible!

Our faculty are committed to learning, growing, and bringing that knowledge back to our CHD students. 📚✨

🌟 Our Child Development Dual Enrollment Students Are Off to a Great Start! 🌟

Our Houston County Career Academy Child Development dual enrollment students are settled in and loving their classes! 💙📚

We have two wonderful groups of students who are excited to learn more about child development, early childhood education, and the importance of hands-on learning. They are also looking forward to participating in valuable lab experiences at their local schools, where they can put what they are learning into practice. 🧸🧒📖

We are so proud of their enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to learning! We can’t wait to see all they accomplish this semester. 🌱✨
