Pharmacy students celebrated Women Pharmacists Day on Monday, October 12th by hosting guest speaker Dr. Renee Tyree, PharmD, MHA and her best pal "Kiki". This special event was jointly organized by the student leadership of APhA-Academy of Student Pharmacists (ASP) & ASHP Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, Glendale Campus (Arizona). As a woman trailblazer with more than 30 years of pharmacy practice and operations experience, Dr. Tyree shared her expertise in pharmaceutical care in inpatient rehabilitation and her journey as a Paralympian, disability advocate, and mentor. Students learned valuable lessons about responding to barriers with persistence, resilience, and problem-solving.

Glendale campus students gathered to learn more about the
American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP)'s "Clinical Research Challenge" during the general body meeting hosted by the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) on September 30, 2026. This innovative and unique competition offers teams of three pharmacy students the opportunity to participate in an online journal club. Qualifying students get the opportunity to submit a letter of intent and a clinical research proposal. Students, we look forward to your participation--way to advance patient care through evidence-based medicine!

Representing Midwestern University and the United States on the global stage, Dr. Sally Arif attended the 84th World Congress of FIP (International Pharmaceutical Federation), the world’s largest pharmacy organization, representing more than 110 countries.

As a member of the FIP Ethics Advisory Group and Academic Pharmacy Section, Dr. Arif continues to contribute to global pharmacy practice and education. At this year’s Congress, her work was recognized with the Best Oral Presenter Award for the Health and Medicines Information Section for two presentations:

• “Navigating Ethical and Regulatory Considerations of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pharmacy Practice”

• “Implementation of a Student Pharmacist-Led Community Health Awareness Program to Enhance Health Access in an Arab-American Immigrant Community.”

Dawn Fields is a P3 student at Midwestern University’s Downers Grove campus who recently represented both the university and the U.S. as a delegate at the 84th World Congress of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in Montreal, Canada, alongside representatives from more than 100 countries.

Currently completing her first APPE rotation with Dr. Sally Arif, a Global Health/Academic elective, Dawn presented a poster titled, “Implementation of a student pharmacist-led community health awareness program to enhance health access in an Arab-American immigrant community.” The retrospective cohort study examined outcomes from 31 screening events conducted over 15 months through the Community Health Awareness Program (CHAP), a Middle Eastern Pharmacist Association (MEPA) initiative that has empowered Midwestern pharmacy students to serve the Middle Eastern community since 2013.

During FIP, Dawn also networked with pharmacists in academia and gained international insight into pharmacy practice and education, including the pharmacy systems of Canada and Japan, pharmacy education in the UK, and pharmaco-dermatology in China.

Congratulations to the pharmacy students who participated in the preliminary round of the local ACCP-SCCP Clinical Pharmacy Challenge held at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy-Glendale Campus (Arizona)! ACCP stands for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy, SCCP stands for Student College of Clinical Pharmacy chapter of ACCP. The Challenge is a team-based competition where teams of two to three students assess their drug knowledge in a “quiz bowl”–type format. This year the Glendale Campus had record-breaking participation with over twenty students across the first, second, and third year classes competing! We are proud of your participation!

The Glendale campus celebrated nine pharmacy student inductees from the Class of 2028 into the Gamma Nu Chapter of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society.

Inductees were Yousif Altatabaee, Alexandra Daniel, Paige Foltz, Celina Ikam, Kaitlyn Nhi Nguyen, Emily Noboa, Cassandra Real, Diana Saadeh, and Michael Stremciuc. Celebrating the class of 2028 inductees were class of 2027 Gamma Nu Board Members Brooke Bratovich, Samantha Brodsky, Brendon Sanchez, and Steven Lam.
