Dasia Powell (C'19) is making an impact through her work with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, where she serves as a chief of programming, technical assistance, and outreach in prevention services. Beyond her professional role, she also gives back through mentoring and community leadership, serving as Chair of the DIVAS Mentoring & Empowerment Program and as Secretary of the Ernie Sims Big Hits Foundation Board.

During her time at the University of Dubuque, Dasia was a student ambassador, resident assistant, Chlapaty Fellow, and worked in the Heritage Center Box Office. As a first-generation college student, she credits the support she received at UD for helping shape her journey and encourages others to continue investing in students because “your investment matters and can be life-changing.”

Lily (McKinlay) Reed (C’15) is helping people learn and grow through her work as manager of learning systems and programs at Conservation International. Her career in learning and development began after serving as an adjunct instructor at UD, an experience that helped shape her professional path.

During her time at the University of Dubuque, Lily worked in the Charles Myers Library, served as a peer writing tutor, participated in theatre and the arts, and was co-managing editor of The Belltower. Her advice to current students is to stay open-minded, explore opportunities outside their comfort zone, and learn from those around them.
