We are delighted to invite you to a special celebration hosted by AMES (Asian Middle Eastern Studies) and Hindi Rang Manch at Duke University in honor of the Centennial Birthday of the renowned Hindi playwright, Mohan Rakesh.

Date: Wednesday, January 8th, 2025
Time: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Venue: White Lecture Hall 107

Join us for an evening filled with play readings, stories, and a journey through the life and works of Mohan Rakesh in Hindi. This event promises to be a memorable tribute to a literary legend whose contributions have left an indelible mark on Hindi literature.

Voices in Global Health: Hindi
Through practical and theoretical discussions around case studies, visual texts, and interviews in the target language, we examine healthcare issues from preventing and controlling COVID-19 and healthcare systems to traditional Indian medicine and environmental health. Guest speakers help us explore the underlying reasons for different beliefs and behaviors, with the goal of creating culturally appropriate interventions. Tutorials meet weekly for 75 minutes. Prerequisite: 3-4 semesters of language or equivalent – heritage and native speakers are welcome to enroll. Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory

Each month, experts and scholars are invited to have a critical discourse on marginalized topics. The lecture will be in English.
