Hey current and former Duke PIE students--you are invited to attend the upcoming Duke TeachHouse Virtual UnConference happening Thursday, April 28th, 2022!

This FREE and fully-virtual event provides space for authentic conversations and community building for teachers working at different schools and in different content areas/grade levels.

Check out the post below from Duke TeachHouse for more info!

Duke TeachHouse is excited to invite you to the Third Annual Duke TeachHouse Virtual UnConference: Empowering Teacher Voice on Thursday, April 28th from 5:30 - 8:00 PM!

The UnConference is a new model that amplifies teachers’ power, autonomy, and voice by allowing teachers to determine discussion topics, facilitate conversations, and document actions to solve problems. This FREE and fully-virtual event provides space for authentic conversations and community building for teachers working at different schools and in different content areas/grade levels.

In addition to access to all conference sessions, recordings, and materials, UnConference participants will receive:

--A certificate of attendance
--A Duke TeachHouse “Red for Ed” t-shirt
--A free copy of the conference book selection

To sign up for this event and provide your input for session topics, please fill out this form by Friday, April 8th: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScQzp-9Wo6QuGjwzH4U6wukEz9PbEMqi-ol4kOd4aG3ycWx3A/viewform?usp=sf_link

Interested in taking on a leadership role and becoming a session facilitator? That’s fantastic! Please indicate your interest in the form linked above and we will reach out to you in the next few weeks. Note that you do NOT need to be an expert on a topic to facilitate–only passionate about the session topic and conversation you are leading. All session facilitators will moderate a 45-minute breakout session and receive an honorarium of $50 for their contributions.

We hope you will join us on April 28th. Again, please use this form to indicate your attendance and topic interests, and feel free to follow on Instagram to stay even more connected!

Duke TeachHouse thrilled to invite all Durham Public Schools and Vance County Schools early career teachers to the upcoming UnConference on May 20th, 2021!

The UnConference is a new model that amplifies teachers’ power, autonomy, and voice by inviting teachers to determine discussion topics, facilitate conversations, and document actions to solve problems of practice. The model allows authentic conversations and community building across teachers working at different schools and in different content areas/grade levels. It is a unique model which recognizes the expertise and skills of educators and creates an inviting space for them to share and learn from their colleagues.

TeachHouse's pilot UnConference last fall was a huge success, and we are thrilled to have participants from DPS and Vance County join TeachHouse fellows in this spring event. Hear more about the power of the inaugural UnConference from keynote James Hopkins here: https://youtu.be/AlezXA5Oir8
