The Ph.D. Plus Enhancement Program aids Pratt Engineering Ph.D. students in making effective career decisions through workshops, seminars, networking, an internship, and enhancement course. PhD Plus is excited to announce a lunch and learn workshop to discuss how to find our natural, innate talents and why we should focus on these things that we do best?

"Dr. Murray joined Duke University in 2009 and manages the delivery of student services, academic services and career services to 200+ students in the Pratt School's Master of Engineering Management (MEM) and Master of Engineering (MEng) programs. As an Adjunct Professor of the Practice, Dr. Murray directs the Professional Masters Programs Seminar and Workshop series and serves as the primary administrator for the Distributed Master of Engineering Management program (d-MEMP). Dr. Murray has 15+ years of management experience and previously held technical leadership positions at a variety of organizations including NASA, AT&T Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, and IBM. She is also a Certified Personal and Executive Coach as well as a Certified Franklin Covey '7 Habits of Highly Effective People' facilitator."

Chapel Hill native and proud Carolina graduate, Zach Ward has been performing and directing comedy for over 20 years.

Zach owns DSI where he serves as Executive Producer. He also serves as Executive Producer and Artistic Director for the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. He has received critical acclaim from the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Tribune for his performance with DUAL EXHAUST (Critic's Choice, INDY PICK, Top 10 "Most Influential Comedy Duos of the Past Decade") and THE BEATBOX (Critic's Choice, Best Bet, "Top 5 Latenight Shows in Chicago"). Zach can currently be seen performing with MISTER DIPLOMAT and on the road at theaters around the country.

PhD Plus is excited to announce a lunch and learn workshop to discuss how to build a solid foundation from recruitment to traditional growth patterns, non-traditional financing, and how to develop successful management skills.

Peyton Anderson is the founding CEO of Affinergy and helped co-found SciQuest in 1995. At SciQuest he raised capital, recruited the management team, made strategic partner deals, and orchestrated acquisitions. In 2003, Mr. Anderson joined Affinergy and has been involved in investor funding and recruiting advisors and board members. Affinergy was spun out of Duke in 2004 based on a technology that helps develops products in orthopedic and soft tissue repair markets. Mr. Anderson is currently on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and the NC Biosciences Organization. He was previous on the executive committee of the Board of Directors for the Council for Entrepreneurial Development.

Richard West has helped found 4 life-science start-up companies. Currently, he is the co-founder and CEO of Baebies Inc., a company aiming to expand newborn screening for more conditions and to developing countries. In 2013, Mr. West and his team sold Advanced Liquid Logic to Illumina for $96M; the company was a Duke spinout that developed lab-on-a-chip technology and products for research tools and diagnostic markets. Prior to Advanced Liquid Logic, Mr. West was founder and CEO of TriVirix, a venture-funded medical equipment contract manufacturer that he and his team grew to over 500 employees, and founder and CEO of Adigy, a medical wireless company. Mr. West has an engineering degree from Duke, an MBA, and over 15 years of experience as a health-tech CEO.
