Meet Our Tea Talk Speaker:
The Honorable Shamieka LaCher Rhinehart
Serving on the Superior Court bench in North Carolina since 2023, Judge Rhinehart brings more than two decades of distinguished legal and judicial experience. Her career is rooted in an unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and the communities she serves.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University School of Law, Judge Rhinehart began her career as a prosecutor with the Durham County District Attorney’s Office from 2005 to 2016. She later earned the trust of her community and was elected to the District Court bench in 2016, where she served with distinction before ascending to Superior Court.
Beyond the bench, she is a dynamic civic leader and changemaker. Judge Rhinehart serves as a board member of Families & Communities Rising and is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. As Mid-Atlantic Regional Connection and Social Action Coordinator, she leads impactful voter engagement initiatives across North Carolina and contributes to numerous civic organizations.
Guided by the words of Marian Wright Edelman—“Service is the rent we pay for living”—Judge Rhinehart embodies leadership grounded in purpose and impact.
