Grace Lamendola had been following The Fashion Law for a while before she decided to email and ask whether the publication took interns. It did.
Now a second-year student at UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law, Grace is an editorial intern with The Fashion Law, which covers the intersection of fashion, business, and law.
In the role, Grace contributes to editorial projects exploring the legal issues affecting the fashion and creative industries. "I've loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at the legal issues shaping the fashion and creative industries while getting to work on projects that combine two things I really enjoy: writing and law," she says.
As an editorial intern, Grace is learning how to turn complex legal issues into writing people actually want to read. The experience has also shown her just how much legal work happens behind the scenes to protect brands and shape the fashion industry.
As for her UNH origin story, the Albany, New York, native chose UNH Law for its close-knit feel and the chance to make her own path (plus, she admits, the abundance of coffee shops in downtown Concord). The internship is letting her build on her interests in intellectual property, trademarks, and brand protection while sharpening her writing and research skills.
One lesson from Grace for anyone eyeing an opportunity: "Sometimes getting your foot in the door really does start with simply sending the email."
We love to see it, Grace! π Best of luck exploring this new opportunity.
