Peggy Jean Covey (Pruitt) 85, of Obion, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Born on May 12, 1941, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to the late Boyd and Ruby Pruitt. Peggy lived a life filled with love and countless memories that will forever be cherished by all that knew and loved her.

She was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; whose greatest joys in life were her family.

On March 1, 1963, Peggy married the love of her life, Buck. They shared 47 wonderful years together before Bucks’ passing in 2011. They were blessed with two sons, two granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters, whom she loved deeply and was immensely proud to call hers.

Better known as Grannie, she was the happiest with a coloring book and a new box of markers in hand. She loved cooking and could fry chicken like no other. She enjoyed long car rides with her dear friends, trips to Reelfoot Lake, and was a master at the game of Skip-Bo.

Peggy was a lifetime member of Broadmoor Church of Christ for her 85 years. She was a devoted Christian, whose faith guided every aspect of her life. You could often find her in her easy chair with her Bible in hand. She found strength, comfort, and purpose through her relationship with the Lord and lived as an example of His love and grace.

Peggy is survived by her two sons, Billy Covey of Memphis, TN; Jim Covey of Obion, TN; granddaughters, Chelsea Covey (Brian), Savannah Morris (Adam); and two great-granddaughters, Covey Jones and Lennon Morris; and Angie Covey, who she loved as a daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Ruby (Chandler) Pruitt; her husband, Ben “Buck” Covey; her sister, Shirley Lorelle; and her brother, Wilburn Pruitt.

Her love was a gift that words will never fully express. We will forever miss her beautiful smile, her comforting Grannie hugs, and the warmth she brought simply by being her. She had a way of making everyone feel loved, welcome, and cared for, and to us, she was truly an angel on earth. She was a blessing, her love was unconditional, and her memory will forever be a part of who we are. Although our hearts are broken by her absence here on earth, we find comfort in knowing she is now in her heavenly home, wrapped in the arms of our Savior that she loved and served so faithfully. Until we meet again, we will carry every precious memory of the beautiful life she lived and person she was.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Peggy Covey (Grannie) will be held at 12 Noon in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on Tuesday, September 29th officiated by Brother Don Reel. The family will receive visitors at 10:30 until service time. Procession to follow at Zion Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Lee, Adam Morris, Scott Nichols, Danny Burress, Byron Stover, Shane Stover, and honorary pallbearer, Tony Pruitt.

The family requests memorials be directed to Broadmoor Church of Christ.

We are privileged and honored to serve the family of Peggy Covey. You may share your condolences and memories with the family at www.curryfuneral.com

Michelle Rene Reed (Bryant)
Sunrise: August 24, 1962
Sunset: September 24, 2026
Michelle Rene Reed, 64, was born August 24, 1962, in Centreville, Illinois, to the late James Marshall Reed and Rosa Lee Crawford. She later made her home in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
She enjoyed so many things that made her uniquely Michelle. She loved her collection of Scarpetta books, her plants, old-time cars, true-crime documentaries and movies, her whatnots, and expressing herself through her bright-colored fashion and jewelry. She had a free gypsy spirit—a love for adventure, freedom, and going wherever life might take her.
You wouldn’t catch her for long without a glass of her sweet tea, some Smarties candy, or her beloved pup (her little buddy) Sterling somewhere close by.
And then there was Michelle’s unforgettable laugh. She had the kind of laugh that could make everyone around her laugh right along with her and those who knew her well can probably still hear it just by thinking of her.
Michelle had a caring heart and was a motherly figure to more than just her own children. She had a way of making people feel welcome, loved and cared for.
Michelle’s life was not without hardship, but hers was also a life of incredible change, strength, and faith.
Michelle faced many obstacles throughout her 64 years, and time after time, she fought her way through them. Life knocked her down more than once, but she had a way of getting back up. She was a warrior in the eyes of many who knew and loved her.
Her faith was an important part of her story. On October 15, 2010, Michelle prayed with all her heart and soul, asking God to free her from the struggles she had been facing. She felt peace come over her, as though the weight of the world had been lifted from her shoulders. She believed God had heard her prayer and freed her from something she could not overcome alone and she carried that faith with her from that day forward.
Above everything else, Michelle deeply loved her family, with a special love for her four children. No matter where life took her or what she faced along the way, her children held a place in her heart that belonged only to them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Marshall Reed and Rosa Lee Crawford, her grandmother, Iris Iva Crawford and her younger brother, James “Jimmy” Reed.
She is survived by her older sister, Rose “Bitsy” Whitehorn; her aunt, Hellen Whitby; her four children, Rickey, Dusty, Mekeisha, and Samantha; eight grandchildren, Summer, Haley, Chelsea, Kelseigh, Sebastian, Tyler, Tanner, and Drew; two great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Rayce; and another precious great-grandchild on the way
Michelle leaves behind pieces of herself in everyone she loved. She will live on through the stories they tell, the laughter they share, and all the little things that will forever remind them of her.
She will always be remembered as a beloved daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, niece, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend with a free and colorful spirit, a strong heart, and a laugh that will never be forgotten.

The celebration of life for Michelle Rene Reed (Bryant) is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Multi-Purpose Building located at 1101 Shelby Drive, Dyersburg, TN.
