STUDY ABROAD SPOTLIGHT

This summer, MSUPS President, Lilly Pepper, and External Affairs Chair, Ava Buchholz, had the opportunity to study abroad in the United Kingdom alongside advisors Dr. John Marshall and Aaron Tucker.

Over four weeks, they visited leading packaging companies, explored sustainability initiatives, and gained a global perspective on packaging innovation.

Please read below to hear more about their time abroad.

“This trip gave me the chance to experience new places and cultures while learning how the UK approaches packaging differently. Meeting so many amazing people made it even more memorable, and I couldn’t recommend this program enough!”
- Lilly Pepper

“My favorite memory of the UK 2026 trip was the boat tour of River Thames. There were other MSU groups there so it was super cool to exchange and talk about each other‘s experiences in a new country not only that but giving each other new ideas of places to explore. The sun was setting and the view was spectacular as we really got to take in the most quintessential parts of London. There was also music so everyone there was just singing and dancing together and it felt like no matter how homesick you were, you never felt lonely.”
- Ava Buchholz

They were so grateful for this opportunity and are excited to bring what they learned back to our Packaging Society!

🌏STUDY ABROAD SPOTLIGHT🌏

Our MSUPS Vice President, Eva Canales, and Treasurer, Lilia Miller, attended the Packaging in Korea and Japan Study Abroad Program earlier this summer!

Please read below to hear more about their time abroad.

“This program was a rewarding experience both personally and professionally. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to explore two beautiful countries and cultures outside of the U.S. alongside an incredible group of peers. It was eye-opening to visit full-scale production lines and hear from industry professionals about how each step contributes to the final product. My favorite memory was visiting Dongwon Systems’ glass manufacturing plant and witnessing the speed of glass bottle production firsthand. I look forward to applying the knowledge I gained to help improve packaging in the U.S. and I hope to return to Asia in the future!”
- Eva Canales

“The Japan and South Korea Study Abroad trip was a fantastic opportunity that allowed me to explore how packaging is made and used in different countries. Additionally, I was able to form relationships with fellow packaging students, faculty, and professionals. This is all while experiencing the unique culture, food, and environment that Japan and South Korea have to offer.”
- Lilia Miller
