Michigan State University Rodeo

Michigan State University Rodeo The MSU Rodeo Club is a student run organization whose members all share an interest in the sport of Rodeo.

We put on an annual Rodeo each February called the Spartan Stampede, and are open to all students who are interested in joining! The Rodeo Club has meetings every other Tuesday at Anthony Hall on the MSU Campus. We welcome any student with an interest in the sport, even if you are not able to compete. To compete, a student must first become a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). To find out more about competing on the MSU Rodeo Team, see the Rodeo Team web page.

Our Miss Michigan State Rodeo Queen Andrea has been busy this summer sharing all the amazing things about rodeo with the youth! This past week, she had the opportunity to meet with another Girl Scouts troop to teach them all about horses and what being rodeo queen is like. ๐Ÿ‘‘ They even got to try out riding her horse!๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿค

Happy Sunday to you all! You know what time it is, itโ€™s senior shout out time! Todayโ€™s senior is Shelby Bentley!

Shelby is graduating from Michigan State with a degree in Environmental Biology and Zoology, with a minor in Sustainable Food and Agriculture. She plans to travel back home to Traverse City this summer and work within the agriculture industry, most likely continuing her internship as a crop technician with Keystone Cooperation. Congratulations Shelby!

A message from Shelby: โ€œMSU Rodeo Club gave me a purpose here at Michigan State, and a sense of belonging in the community. It was a huge part of making my experience here feel like a home away from home. My biggest regret is not joining sooner, so if youโ€™re interested in joining, just do it!โ€

Abby is graduating with a bachelors in Environmental Economics and Management. She plans to continue working for Keystone Cooperative after graduation, where she will be crop scouting for row crops, and working in agricultural sales. Congratulations Abby!

A message from Abby: โ€œThank you to the members of the club for being the most kind, amazing, and funny people at MSU!โ€

Last weekend, a few club members had the opportunity to help out with the Little Britches Rodeo in Ovid! They helped run the timers, set poles and barrels, and run the arena gates. It was a great chance to lend a helping hand while also learning more about the behind the scenes operations of a rodeo!๐Ÿค ๐Ÿ’š
